# Authentication

> Send your API key as a bearer token.

Send your API key as a bearer token on every request:

```bash theme={null}
Authorization: Bearer cb_live_…
```

Create and revoke keys in your [dashboard](https://checkobot.ai/dashboard/keys). Keys come with the API plans.

  We store only a hash of each key, so copy it when it's shown. Keep keys server-side; never ship them in a browser or app bundle.

A missing, invalid or revoked key returns `401 unauthorized`. A key whose plan has no API access, or an endpoint that needs a higher plan, returns `403 plan_required`. See [Errors](/errors).
